What SIL pays for
SIL funds the support staff who help you live in your home — rostered workers, their training and their on-call. SIL doesn’t pay for the building (that’s SDA or private rental).
Roster of care
SIL is built around a roster of care — the pattern of support shifts across the week. The roster is designed around your needs, costed by us, and approved by the NDIA as part of your plan.
Cost benchmarks
- Low-intensity shared SIL — from around $80,000 per year
- Medium-intensity shared — typically $150,000 to $300,000
- 24/7 1:1 active high-intensity — often $400,000+
These are indicative. Carevally prepares a detailed, itemised quote before anything is submitted to the NDIA.
How to add SIL to a plan
- Occupational Therapist functional capacity assessment
- Home and Living Supports Request submitted to the NDIA
- Supporting evidence from treating team
- Roster of care quote prepared by the SIL provider
- Plan reassessment or variation
